MASTALGIA

Abstract

Mastalgia or mastodynia can be defined as “breast
pain of sufficient severity for a women to seek
medical advice”. Some breast pain or discomfort is
experienced by about 2/3rd of women during the
premenstrual phase. It may be associated with
increased nodularity1. This pain is mild, lasts for a
short time in the premenstrual phase but more
important, it resolves with menstruation. It can be
considered with in the spectrum of “normal”.
